7 Ways to Get Ready for #GetDigital18
Get Digital is our annual digital conference, bringing together leading industry and academic experts to share insights on emerging technologies and trends. If you’re interested in business strategy or digitalisation, this is the event for you! To help you make the most of the event, we’ve put together 7 insider tips…
Get your ticket
Tickets for Get Digital are free but you need to register on Eventbrite to secure your spot. There are a few different ticket types available. You can select to go solely to Get Digital, from 2pm until 6pm, or you can commit to a full day of innovative, digital learning by also attending ‘The 8th Symposium on Capital Markets and Fintech’, which focuses on regulatory technology (RegTech) and takes place from 9am until 2pm at DCU Business School. We’ll be able to scan mobile tickets on the day but it’s always good to print off a copy as a back-up.
Follow speakers on Twitter
We have some incredible speakers lined up for Get Digital 2018, including Kinzen’s Mark Little, Magnet Networks’ Mark Kellett, InishTech’s Aidan Gallagher and Cpl Future of Work Institute’s Siobhan O’Shea. It really is a fantastic opportunity to soak up their knowledge and learn how to apply it to your own career. Before the event, be sure to follow all speakers on Twitter to get a sense of their work and make tweeting on the day easier.
Spread the word
Speaking of tweeting, be sure to share quotes, pics and videos on the day of the event using #GetDigital18. This is a great way to get an online conversation going about the topics discussed and boost your own profile too. Win win! Students on our DICE (Digital Innovation Creativity and Enterprise) course get participation marks for tweeting on the day – even more incentive to get your phones out.
Think of questions
There will be lots of chances to ask our amazing speakers questions, particularly at the end of each of the panel discussions. The event will focus on the Future of Work (2.45-3.45pm), Digital Transformation (4.05-5pm), and Privacy, Trust and Governance (5-6pm) – all extremely relevant in today’s business climate. Think about what information is most relevant to your business or career and be brave on the day – everyone will appreciate your input and enthusiasm.
Plan your route
Traffic to the event will be hectic so we advise getting public transport if possible. This will mean you won’t have the hassle of trying to find a parking space. The Helix is serviced by the following bus routes – 4, 9, 11, 13 and 44. If you’re brave enough to drive, try and arrive earlier to secure a parking space in the multi-storey car park directly across from the Helix. You can find out more about travelling to the event here.
Bring your pen and paper
Digital conference this may be, but having a pen and paper handy will make taking notes on the day a lot easier. We’re anticipating lots of inspirational talks from our keynote speakers, and you’ll want to jot down their words of wisdom. The venue won’t have sufficient charging points for all attendees – something to be aware of if you’re bringing a tablet or laptop.
And business cards!
The event also enables you to connect with thought-leaders in your sector and beyond – so bring your business cards! Previous attendees have commented that the break in the middle of the event is particularly beneficial for networking. You never know who you might meet and what business venture it might spark.
You should now be more than ready to embrace Get Digital 2018. There are still tickets available so please share with colleagues and friends who you think might be interested. See you there!
