DCU Business School is among the elite 1% of business schools worldwide to be accredited by EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA. In addition to this ‘triple crown’ of accreditations, we are also the only business school in Ireland to have been awarded Small Business Charter.
EFMD Global quality system (EQUIS) is a globally recognised mark of excellence for business and management education. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) is the world’s oldest and most prestigious global accrediting body for business schools. AACSB accreditation is widely recognised as the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by only 6% of the world’s business schools.
AACSB standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff engagement; teaching and learning; and academic and professional engagement.
AACSB ensures that the school delivers content that is current, relevant, forward-looking, and globally oriented. The school’s curriculum must promote innovation, experiential learning, and a lifelong learning mindset. Additionally, an important component of an AACSB-accredited institution is how the school contributes meaningfully both to connecting business education with business practice and to fostering and promoting societal impact.
AACSB-accredited schools develop business leaders with higher earnings potential and greater career mobility than graduates from non-accredited schools. DCU’s Executive MBA is accredited by the Association of MBAs, which assesses the quality of MBA programmes worldwide.

The Small Business Charter (SBC) is an accreditation celebrating world-class business schools across the UK and Ireland that demonstrate excellence and impact in supporting small businesses, student entrepreneurship, and their local economies. It was established to signpost entrepreneurs, small businesses, and local economic stakeholders to business schools in their region with the expertise to help them thrive.
In order to achieve the SBC accreditation, business schools undergo a rigorous assessment to determine the effectiveness of their business support, entrepreneurship education, and engagement with their local economy.
We are the only business school in the Republic of Ireland to have been awarded Small Business Charter. This award is in recognition of the effective role DCU plays in supporting the development of small and medium-sized businesses in Ireland and in promoting entrepreneurship, among its students and within the Irish entrepreneurship eco-system. Schools can secure the SBC accreditation by achieving a minimum of 15 dimensions across key areas – DCU Business School was awarded all the 30 dimensions sought in the application.
Professional Accreditations
Chartered Accountants Ireland is the largest and longest established accountancy body in Ireland. It has over 28,000 members and 6,000 students.
Graduates from the following programmes are offered exemptions in either the CAP1 or CAP2 exams:
- BA in Accounting and Finance
- Bachelor of Business Studies
- Bachelor of Business Studies (International)
- MSc in Accounting
- MSc in International Accounting and Business
Graduates from the following programmes are offered exemption options in ACCA F1 – F9 exams:
- BA in Accounting and Finance
- M.Sc. International Accounting and Business
- M.Sc. in Accounting
- Bachelor of Business Studies
The Irish Tax Institute (ITI) is the leading professional body for taxation affairs in Ireland. It has over 6,000 membership across AITI, Chartered Tax Advisers (CTA), accountants, barristers, solicitors and other business professionals.
Graduates from the following programmes are offered an exemption for the Chartered Tax Advisor Exams:
- BA in Accounting and Finance
- M.Sc. International Accounting and Business
- M.Sc. in Accounting
- Bachelor of Business Studies
CIMA is the worlds largest and leading professional body of management accountants. It has over 203,000 members and students in 173 countries.
Graduates from the following programmes are offered an exemption for specific CIMA modules:
- BA in Accounting and Finance
- Bachelor of Business Studies
- MSc in Accounting
- MSc in Management (Business)
- MSc in Management (Strategy)
Graduates who successfully complete the following programmes are eligible for Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD):
- MSc in Human Resource Management
- MSc in Talent, Leadership and HR Stategy
- MSc in Work Organisational Behaviour/Psychology
PSI (The Psychological Society of Ireland)Â
Established in 1970, the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) is the learned and professional body for psychology and psychologists in the Republic of Ireland. It currently represents c. 4,000 members. PSI-accredited since 2009, the MSc in Work and Organisational Psychology/Behaviour are the longest running specialised programmes delivering organisational psychology education in Ireland.
DCU Business School is SHRM-aligned. SHRM Academic Alignment Program participants are recognised as SHRM academic partners and, as such, are seen as a top choice for students seeking a career in Human Resources. Students enrolled in SHRM HR aligned programmes are provided with the opportunity to earn their SHRM-CP credential prior to graduating, providing them with a competitive advantage in the job market.
Graduates from the MSc in Finance qualify for graduate membership of the Global Association of Risk Professionals.

University rankings provide valuable insights for prospective students, helping them make informed decisions about their education. They offer a clear benchmark of key factors such as:

Increasingly, most rankings also emphasise schools’ commitments to sustainability, assessing how programs address critical issues like climate change, responsible resource management, and sustainable business practices. FT rankings  of Master’s programmes require data on core teaching hours dedicated to ESG content and both the University’s and the School’s carbon footprint (incl. Scope 3 emissions). These sections now account for 7% of the final FT ranking .
DCU is ranked 174/1,743 in QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025 . We scored very highly across the board, achieving 93.9/100 for Sustainability and 97.8/100 for Equality .
DCU is ranked 101-200/1,963 in the THE Impact rankings 2024 .
DCU Business School was ranked in the top 90 Business Schools in Europe in the Financial Times Ranking 2023.
The Financial Times Ranking for Business Schools is one of the most highly acknowledged and widely cited authorities on the quality and performance of institutions globally, and DCU Business School is one of only three Irish Business Schools to achieve this ranking.
DCU Business School’s MSc in Management was ranked in the top 95 in the world in Financial Times Masters in Management Ranking 2023.

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by subject draws on the same dataset and methodology as used for the THE World University Rankings. This ranks research-intensive universities based on a variety of factors – teaching, research quality, industry connections, international outlook.
DCU is ranked 201-250 globally – 2nd in Ireland for Business & Economics (Accounting, Finance, Business, Management and Economics), scoring 1st globally for Research Quality in this category.
