DCU Alumni Organise Inspiring Diversity Event in Dublin
Two DCU alumni, Yemi Ajomale and Trina Dzinou, are at the heart of organising one of the largest events for Black History Month in October. Career Day 2023 will be hosted and organised by the African Professional Network of Ireland (APNI) in collaboration with
LinkedIn and will be held at LinkedIn’s stunning EMEA headquarters on Wilton Place in Dublin.
Career Day is a free event focused on professional growth for the African and Afro-Irish community. It will feature a dedicated CV clinic, insightful panels and a professional headshot studio. Participants can look forward to gaining invaluable insights, expanding their
networks, and engaging in meaningful discussions on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The event is on 12 October and related workshops will be hosted online in the weeks prior to help attendees maximise the opportunity to meet with potential employers and expand their networks.
“The atmosphere at last year’s event was so inspiring, we had over 600 attendees! We are excited to build on this for 2023 and continue to foster positive change.” explains Trina. Trina who graduated with a BA Economics Politics and Law (2016) currently works as an
employment, benefits and pensions solicitor in Matheson LLP but leads on developing APNI’s creative design for marketing campaigns.
“This year we are working with some fantastic corporate partners. Their genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion aligns perfectly with the objectives of Career Day. To have that support and backing has been invaluable.” explains Yemi. Yemi who graduated with an MSc in Accounting and Finance (2012) currently works as Compliance and Audit manager at Apple and leads on corporate engagement. APNI’s 2023 corporate partners cover a range of industries and include Docusign, Enterprise Holdings, Fidelity International, Grant Thornton, Vodafone and Zurich.
Companies confirmed to be present at this year’s career day (in addition to the above stated 2023 partners) include Linkedin (Event Partner), Google, JP Morgan,Irish Life (Diamond Level sponsors), Hub Spot, Deloitte, Bank of Ireland, Apple and Kellogg’s (Gold level

Current DCU student Nnenna Lois Okeleke, BCL Law and Society, also volunteers with APNI and expands on why the event aligns the university so well “DCU has a very multicultural and inclusive environment that attracts a diverse student body from around the
world and I always felt like I could bring my whole self to campus.”
