DCU Executive MBA – Louise Walsh, 1st year shares her thoughts!
Thinking about what’s next in your career journey? Want to challenge yourself to grow, both personally and professionally? Consider an Executive MBA at Dublin City University! I did, and I haven’t looked back.
Career crossroads can be difficult. Weighing up all options, understanding the commitment and payback of each, and what doors could open as a result…it can be a minefield. This time last year, I was going through the same thought process. After some reflection, I realized that I wanted to further compliment and develop my business acumen and leadership skills.
I saw the Executive MBA as an opportunity to do this and I was eager to do a program of high calibre. DCU’s Executive MBA has valuable AMBA accreditation, with international recognition and a growing alumnus network. Additionally, the DCU Business School boasts prestigious AACSB accreditation.
I have just completed my first semester, and it has been an exceptional experience so far. I have gained so much knowledge and insight from the expert faculty, as well as from my exceptionally talented classmates.
One module which I particularly enjoyed was ‘Organizational Behaviour & Change’. During this module, topics such as motivation, high performing teams, social networks, leadership, power, and culture were discussed and debated. The theories and frameworks in this module enable you to not only look inward at yourself as a leader but also to understand your colleagues and work environments more proficiently. Case studies and class discussions and were emphasized, with the learning instantly applicable to real world business contexts.
It is true that an Executive MBA is a big commitment; but it is an investment in your career journey, an investment in your growth and an investment in your future. You adapt and become more efficient than you were before. Additionally, the class and faculty are extremely supportive. Although a big decision, it will not be one that you regret. If you are thinking of an Executive MBA, think DCU!
