Driving Organisational Impact through Research: DCU Hosts Dr. Alec Levenson for Strategic Analytics Seminar

On 24th April, DCU Business School welcomed internationally recognised expert Dr. Alec Levenson from the USC (University of Southern California) Marshall School of Business for a seminar hosted by the Institute for Business & Society, in partnership with the Obair research group.
The session, “Using Systems Diagnostics and Analytics to Bridge Research and Practice”, explored how organisations can enhance performance by applying systems thinking and analytics to strategic decision-making.
Dr. Levenson’s research focuses on how organisations align workforce strategy with business goals. His seminar offered practical frameworks for:
- Enhancing organisational performance and strategy execution
- Talent management for the evolving workplace
- Leveraging human capital analytics for smarter decision-making
At the core of the discussion was a commitment to connecting academic insight with business practice—ensuring that research not only advances knowledge but actively supports organisations in navigating complexity and change.
“It was great to have Alec Levenson visit us and present his learnings from CEO (Centre for Effective Organizations) including insights around generating actionable knowledge and thought leadership on workforce analytics” (Professor Brian Harney, Head of Work Psychology and Strategy, DCU Business School)
This event reflects Obair’s mission to deliver research that informs practice, strengthens performance, and prepares organisations for the future of work.
Levenson’s co-edited book ‘Workforce analytics: A global perspective’ (with M. Edwards, D. Minbaeva, and M.A. Huselid) ‘’ was recently published by Routledge.
