A new report Carbon Budgeting: Opportunities and Challenges for Irish Business by DCU Business School at Dublin City University in conjunction with Business in the Community Ireland will be launched on Tuesday 18th June at 6pm.
The report will be launched by Minister Dara Calleary, Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
The report examines business awareness and understanding of climate policy and carbon budgets, and identifies challenges and opportunities for Irish business. The findings are based on interview and focus group research conducted in 2023 with representatives of business, policy and other sectors. The report sets out recommendations for business and policymakers to drive impactful business climate action.
The event will feature a panel of speakers from academia, industry and policy, including the report authors:
- Dr Aideen O’Dochartaigh, Assistant Professor in Accounting, DCU Business School
- Anna Pringle, PhD Candidate, DCU School of Communications
and:
- Tomas Sercovich, CEO, Business in the Community Ireland
- Dr. Darren Clarke, Assistant Professor in Climate and Environmental Change, School of History and Geography, DCU
- Caoimhe Donnelly, Chief Sustainability Officer, CIE

The research has been funded by the Irish Research Council under the New Foundations 2022 funding scheme.
