The Graduate Certificate in Financial Intelligence and Technology is delivered by DCU Business School in association with IFS Skillnet and is designed for people who want to add modern financial techniques and innovation expertise to their existing finance experience.

This level 9, postgraduate programme is provided through online distance learning, which means that students can achieve a deeper understanding in a specialist area and provide a sound basis for their long-term career, without disruption to their career or other commitments.

This progamme comprises four stand-alone microcredentials, each worth 7.5 credits, which can be taken individually or as a block to achieve the Graduate Certificate.  

IFS Skillnet is co-funded by Skillnet Ireland and member companies. Its aim is to support the financial services sector in maintaining Ireland’s position as a top international financial services centre, through ongoing investment in the development of the skills and expertise of this workforce.  As such there are a limited number of places on each microcredential course available with IFS Skillnet funding.

The second of these microcredentials is the ‘FinTech – Financial Technology and Innovation‘ module, taking place online over 9 weeks on a Wednesday evening, from 7pm – 8.30pm, September to December 2023.

Module Description:

FinTech – Financial Technology and Innovation

This micro-credential explores the interaction of finance and technology and its impact on the financial services industry. The main objectives are to deepen learners’ knowledge of the FinTech landscape, encourage learners to think critically across a range of financial and technology contexts, and discern the challenges and complex issues pertaining to this emerging and evolving space.

Participants will focus on practical development, as well as evolving concerns and opportunities as are relevant at the time the course is being delivered. There is also a focus on secure and safe FinTech practices throughout the module.

The module is relevant to anyone wishing to acquire or deepen their knowledge of FinTech. Employees who might see the potential to introduce financial innovations, will particularly benefit.

The module is co-developed with the Irish Institute for Digital Business (IIDB), the largest digital business research centre in Ireland. This ensures that the content is research and practice-led and thus fully modern in outlook.
