Paul is Non-Executive Director and advisor to a number of Family Businesses and Private companies.He was a Partner in PwC for almost thirty years where he held a number of management positions at National, European and Global levels.
He led PwC’s Family Business practice for over twenty years, leading much of the Firm’s research in the sector, and was responsible for many of the PwC’s key client relationships.
He provides advice on a range of matters including, growth and development strategies, family and corporate governance, risk management and controls, acquisitions and business combinations.Paul served as a member of the Advisory Board of the National Centre for Family Business from 2014 to 2018 prior to becoming Chairman in 2021.
Dr. Eric Clinton is an Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship at DCU Business School and Director of the DCU Centre for Family Business.
Flora Crowe is currently the Managing Director of Crowe’s Supermarkets, a chain of retailers in Ireland’s south-west region. She has been involved in her family’s business from a very young age, and she joined full time in 2008 following a commerce degree and a master’s in business. Crowe is one of seven children (two of her brothers also run their own sites) and she succeeded her parents about three years ago.
Tom is a founding Director of NTR plc and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He also holds a number of other directorships. Tom graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an MA (Economics) degree and holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
In 1950 Kevin O’Connor left Ireland and went to the USA to find work. A few years later he brought home leading-edge paint technology and founded Colourtrend paints in an old famine workhouse in Celbridge, County Kildare. Kevin O’Connor, General Paints’s current Chairman, took over from his father over thirty years ago. General Paint’s Irish heritage inspires them to translate the elusive and pied colours of the Irish landscape and create a colour collection of Ireland’s richest associations, from a luminous gorse bush to a brooding sky. The company recently underwent a major rebrand emphasising the company’s rich heritage and premium product line. General Paints has been in a major growth phase over the last few years. Staff numbers have grown to over eighty-five with all manufacturing, research and development done onsite in their listed premises. General Paints is also pursuing exciting expansion opportunities in the UK, US and Chinese markets.
Catherine is Head of the Business Banking Market at AIB Bank. She was a former President of Dublin Chamber and is also a member of the Advisory Board of DCU National Centre for Family Business
Professor Colm O’Gorman is Interim Dean of Dublin City University Business School Professor of Entrepreneurship. He is a member of the National Centre for Family Business
Professor Maura McAdam is Professor of Management and the first Director of Entrepreneurship at Dublin City University. She is a member of the National Centre for Family Business.
Eoghan Stack is Director of Commercial & International Business Development at Dublin City University Business School with responsibility for executive education, new international programmes and industry engagement. Eoghan joined DCU Business School from his position as CEO of the DCU Ryan Academy for Entrepreneurs, supporting early-stage innovative Irish startup businesses to scale through the delivery of startup & innovation programmes and events.
Eoghan previously worked with Declan Ryan (co-founder of Ryanair, Europe’s largest airline) in Ryan’s private investment and philanthropic vehicle, The One Foundation, as Director of Investment Impact. Eoghan began his career as a semiconductor design engineer in a dotcom company in the computer networking industry.
Eoghan has held positions on a number of varied startup business, non-profit and philanthropic related Boards over the years and currently sits on the Boards of Philanthropy Ireland, The One Foundation and the Irish Saudi Arabia Business Council.
Eoghan has a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University College Cork and a Masters in Management (Innovation in Social Enterprise) from Dublin City University.
Joe Quinsey joined DCU Educational Trust as CEO in November 2019. In this role, Joe is responsible for the organisation’s overall strategy and future development as it works to build meaningful partnerships with DCU’s supporters to further the university’s mission to transform lives and societies. An accountant by training, Joe has over 20 years’ leadership experience gained in both the not-for-profit and commercial sectors.
After completing an MBA with DCU in 1996, he went on to enjoy a successful career with Diageo before joining The Children’s Medical and Research Foundation as CEO in 2010. In this role, he led the organisation in raising over €60 million for paediatric research, vital infrastructure and medical equipment for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin. Between 2016 and 2019, Joe fulfilled strategic project leadership roles for the CRH group and The Rehab group prior to joining DCU Educational Trust as CEO.
Claire Whelehan joined the DCU Educational Trust in September 2005. Her current role as Director of Philanthropy is to develop and maintain a portfolio of individual, corporate and foundation relationships. Claire works closely with the Chief Executive to further the mission and objectives of the university through external funding and offers guidance in establishing and implementing a wide range of advancement policies and procedures. Claire has over 16 years of experience in development and alumni relations, within the education sector. Claire came to DCU from The Roxbury Latin School in the United States, where she was Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations. Prior to that Claire worked as a Development Assistant at the Harvard College Fund. Claire originally hails from Dundalk and holds a BA in Hotel and Tourism Management from the University of Ulster.
