The National Centre for Family Business (NCFB) at DCU Business School invites outstanding graduates (who have completed or are about to complete a Master’s Degree in any discipline) to apply for its full-time PhD Programme. This is a part-funded position for 3 years.
Overview
The purpose of this study is to examine sustainability practices in family firms and to understand how family firms, both nationally and internationally, can embrace sustainability and build a business model that reverberates around sustainable environmental practices. We wish to explore how long lived firms (including centenarian firms) can navigate the paradoxical tensions of managing tradition while embracing change, in the pursuit of transgenerational entrepreneurship.

As part of our growth strategy we are hiring PhD scholars to join our research team. We offer a stimulating learning and research environment, and a structured PhD programme. Successful candidates will conduct research projects under faculty supervision and gain access to world-leading scholars who are engaged with the NCFB.
How to Apply
Applications are sought from exceptional graduates from Ireland and overseas. Applicants should have an outstanding academic record at undergraduate and postgraduate level in any discipline and a research interest in one of the following subject areas:
- Sustainability
- Environmental Practices
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Strategy and Growth
- Family Business and/or SMEs’
