Spotlight: MSc in Management (Business)
The MSc in Management (Business) is a busy and intensive programme which runs for 12 months commencing in September. People taking this programme typically wish to complement their undergraduate degree with a business qualification at masters level or would like to convert from their original undergraduate discipline and gain business knowledge. We do not assume any prior knowledge of the modules or topics covered.
This one year, full-time programme enables your learning through a combination of lectures, self-assessment exercises, seminars, workshops, and a wide range of practical assignments – often for real-world clients. A core design element of this postgraduate programme is that you will be given many opportunities to test and apply your knowledge on industry projects.
The MSc in Management (Business) is part of DCU Business School’s Next Generation Management initiative. It focuses on four key themes: personal and career development; leadership, teamwork and corporate accountability; global and societal awareness; and research, media and communication. Particular emphasis is placed on reflective and critical thinking, collaborating with people, creating and sharing knowledge and dealing with complexity. The Next Generation Management learning portfolio has proven to be an excellent talking point for students in interviews and is highly regarded by our graduate employers.
In this programme, you will gain the knowledge needed to make a significant contribution to the management and ultimately the leadership of public, private or voluntary sector organisations in a local and global marketplace. You will be proficient in accessing, critically evaluating and applying current research and theory in an academic and professional context as well as being capable of demonstrating mastery of written and oral communication
Coupled with their primary degree, graduates of the M.Sc. in Management (Business) are members of an exclusive group of multi-disciplinary graduates. This is a significant differentiator in the increasingly competitive postgraduate employment market. Graduates have been employed in a wide variety of industries and functions by leading indigenous and international organisations including eBay, IBM, Goldman Sachs, Helena Rubenstein, Irish Cement, Kerry Foods, Unicredit and GAM Fund Management.
