Professor PJ Byrne
PJ Byrne is Professor of Operations Management in DCU Business School and Head of the Financial and Operational Performance Group. He was previously Head of the Management Group in the school (2012 – 2015). Prior to joining DCU in 2007, he spent four years working in the Manufacturing and Operations Engineering Department in the University of Limerick.
PJ led the development of DCU’s BSc in Aviation Management (with pilot studies) in 2008 and the MSc in Aviation Leadership in 2014. He chaired both programmes from development until September 2016. He has sat on a number of external programme accreditation panels across a range of Irish Higher Level Educational Institutes and has recently completed external examining roles for academic programmes in City University, Hong Kong and University College Cork.
His primary research interests include operations strategy and supply chain design, with a particular focus on industrial applications for both the manufacturing and services sectors. PJ has an extensive track record in attracting significant research funds and has been a Principal Investigator for a number of national and international research projects. PJ has mentored a broad array of researchers over his career, ranging from senior research fellows to research students. He has successfully supervised 10 research students to completion.
