Bound By Blood in the Family Firm?
Dr Catherine Faherty receives prestigious Doctoral Dissertation Award for her contribution to leadership studies
We are delighted to announce that family business researcher Dr Catherine Faherty, current Postdoctoral Fellow at Kellogg School of Management Northwestern, has been awarded the Frederic M. Jablin Doctoral Dissertation Award. Annually, the International Leadership Association (ILA) nominates an academic scholar whose Doctoral Dissertation has significant implications for interdisciplinary leadership studies and contributes to substantial insights in the field. Awarded in partnership with Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond, the prestigious Federic M. Jablin award is the second Doctoral Dissertation nomination Dr Faherty has received for uncovering emergent knowledge on trust in family business management in her PhD thesis.
Her doctoral dissertation, Bound by Blood in the Family Firm, was nominated for the Grigor McClelland Doctoral Dissertation Award earlier this year, where she was a finalist for her innovative and imaginative scholarly contributions to management and organisational studies. Dr Faherty completed her PhD thesis at DCU National Centre for Family Business under the supervision of Dr Eric Clinton and successfully defended her research in July 2018. She has since taken up a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the renowned Kellogg School of Management Center for Family Enterprises.
Dr Faherty returns to Dublin City University’s National Centre for Family Business to teach and conduct research alongside her family business colleagues in January 2020. We very much look forward to welcoming her back in the New Year. Congratulations on this amazing achievement Catherine! The NCFB Team.
