Gwen Gould, Marketing Manager Nutrition, Glanbia Ingredients Ireland
Gwen Gould has recently completed the Bord Bia MSc programme. Here she tells us about her experience of the Masters and what is has meant for her career:
Tell us a little bit about your background and what led you to apply for this programme.
I have worked in Innovation for many years, but my skills had been learned ‘on-the-job’. I saw this as an opportunity to up skill my innovation knowledge and combine it with an industry that I have always had passion for.
How did you find the programme itself? How much of a challenge was it?
The most important thing I learned on this course was the design thinking process. There are two parts of this that I consistently bring into my day job, putting consumers are the heart of innovation, and the agility gained through prototyping. I regularly run design thinking workshops to develop ideas or improve ones we already have. This process has changed the way we deliver innovation.
What impact has the programme had on your career?
This course gave me a huge leg up into the food industry in Ireland. I have an excellent role within Glanbia Ireland and on top of that I have a great network within the food industry that I did not have prior to doing this course. And of course I also have an excellent MSc qualification from a leading university.
DCU Business School and Bord Bia are now seeking applications from ambitious recent graduates who come from a broad range of undergraduate degrees and who want to develop their global food industry expertise.
