Experiencing Beijing: A Testimony from our INTB (Chinese) Students at CUEB
Experiencing Beijing:
Embarking on a journey to Beijing, China, is more than just an educational endeavour; it’s a transformative experience that leaves an indelible mark on those who immerse themselves in its vibrant culture and rich history. At DCU Business School, we take immense pride in fostering global perspectives among our students, and the testimonials from our current Erasmus participants in China speak volumes about the enriching opportunities awaiting those who venture beyond their comfort zones. Denise Sheehan, Shauna Takayama, Giulianna De Oliveira Carvalho, and Nicole Dam share their reflections on their extraordinary year abroad, offering a glimpse into the life-changing adventure that awaits those who dare to seize it.
“Our journey in Beijing has been nothing short of extraordinary, an experience that we will forever be grateful for. If you truly want to level up your Mandarin skills, a year abroad in China is a must. Although the classes are full-on at CUEB, every challenge is a stepping stone towards fluency. Before you know it, you’ll be swapping stories with the locals and making friendships that feel like home.
Choosing to live on campus was one of the best decisions for us. Getting to know other exchange students and being immersed in this multicultural environment was great. As we got to celebrate holidays together, like Christmas, which created a sense of community that made being away from home feel a little less daunting.
China is a dream for anyone who’s a foodie, history buff, or even just curious about what the world has to offer – they have it all. And if you decide to go, please try the 东北烤冷面; it’s a street food that’s so simple yet so comforting and probably one of our favorites!
Beijing is truly an unforgettable journey where, although you’re putting yourself out there to meet new people and try new things, it’s all worth it. It’s been an amazing chance to grow, explore, and create memories that’ll last a lifetime. We couldn’t recommend it more”.
In the heart of Beijing, amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, our students have discovered not just a new language but a new way of seeing the world. Their journey in China has been a testament to DCU Business Schools’ commitment to educating our student community and transcending borders and cultures, shaping them into global leaders equipped to navigate an increasingly interconnected world.
As they bid farewell to Beijing, Denise, Shauna, Giulianna, and Nicole carry with them memories that will last a lifetime and friendships that span continents. To future adventurers considering the path less traveled, heed their words: the challenges may be many, but the rewards are immeasurable. At DCU Business School, we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments and eagerly await the next cohort of students ready to embark on their unforgettable journey.
